What is Enterprise Mobility?
It sounds like adding four wheels to your organization. Literally... In the era of networked organizations and global economies data cannot reside on centrally located servers within the orgaization. Data needs to be available at the station, in the airport preferably in the middle of nowwhere anytime to make decisions, workflow process and provide status information. A sales person for refrigerators wants to know the stock available in the distribution center to make decisions for stocks that can be sent to the dealer or an auto loan seller wants to get approvals for quotes that can be offered to the customer. This would mean extending Email, Intranets and Internet Portals, ERP and CRMs to Mobile devices.

As a CTO where can I start. First would be ROI. If i take the example of a bank providing
banking solutions on Mobile this would mean creating another channel to interact with customers, provide the flexibility of removing the bank from the desktop computer and placing in on the device, customer loyalty and satisfaction, differentiation against competition. Does the cost of providing banking on Mobile justify investment in infrastructure, application development and maintenance? Yes. Mobile banking to start off would act as a differentiator against competition, increase customer satisfaction and loyalty by providing flexibiity in the hands of the customer. This would translate into more revenue and growing customer base for the bank.
